Free PDF to Text Converter
Drop in a PDF, get clean text out. Scanned pages are handled by OCR, so image-only documents produce real text instead of a blank result. You get 30 free credits after verifying your email — roughly 30 pages — with no card and nothing to install.

How to extract text from a PDF
- 1Sign up with email or Google and confirm your email address — 30 credits are added on verification.
- 2Upload your PDF (up to 10 MB free, 50 MB on Pro and Annual) or point the converter at a public URL.
- 3Copy or download the result. The output is Markdown, which is plain text — it pastes into any editor, and the structure (headings, lists, tables) comes with it.
Why not just copy and paste?
- Copying a PDF gives you line breaks in random places and hyphenated words split across lines.
- Headers and footers repeat on every page and end up in the middle of your text.
- Tables collapse into columns of whitespace-separated numbers.
- Scanned pages give you nothing at all — there is no text layer to copy.
- Multi-column layouts paste in the wrong order.
An OCR-backed converter fixes all five, which is why "just copy it" stops working the moment you have more than one document.
What free actually means here

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Credits | 30 | 200 | 1,500 | 12,000 |
| Approx. pages | 30 | 200 | 1,500 | 12,000 |
| Max file size | 10 MB | 20 MB | 50 MB | 50 MB |
| Card required | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
One credit is one processed page. Credits from a purchase never expire; subscription credits refresh each cycle.
What the output looks like
You get Markdown — plain text with light structure. Headings carry their level, lists stay lists, tables come back as Markdown tables, and formulas stay in LaTeX. If you want structure-free text, strip the markers in one line:
import re
def strip_markdown(md: str) -> str:
md = re.sub(r"^#{1,6}\s*", "", md, flags=re.M) # headings
md = re.sub(r"\*\*|__", "", md) # bold
md = re.sub(r"^\s*[-*+]\s*", "", md, flags=re.M) # bullets
return md.strip()Privacy

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes — 30 credits after email verification, no card. That is roughly 30 pages.
Do scanned PDFs work?
Yes. Scanned pages go through OCR, so you get text rather than an empty page.
Is there a page or file size limit?
10 MB per file on the free tier, 20 MB on trial and 50 MB on Pro or Annual. There is no page cap beyond your credits.
Can I export as .txt?
The output is Markdown, which is plain text. Copy it or download the .md file and use it anywhere.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser, and there is an API if you want to automate it.
